Using a soft bristled toothbrush, scrub the diamonds clean. You should immediately notice a difference in the luster of the gems. Use gentle circular motions instead of a forward backward motion. Give it a good rinse. Dip the jewelry in the ammonia solution for a few seconds before rinsing it in cold water. Pat dry. Shake off the excess water and pat dry with a piece of soft cloth. On a small towel, you may place the jewelry and allow it to air dry. When the pieces are ready, store it properly. The jewelry case should have a non abrasive surface. Also, avoid storing all your gems in one container since it can get scratched.

Their short term view of generating a trading profit is in stark contrast to the views of long term investors in gold, as evidenced by the massive wave of physical gold buying that began over the weekend and accelerated following Mondays further decline. The surge in gold purchases is spanning markets from India and China to the US, Japan and Europe. Buyers are viewing this as an opportunity to purchase gold at prices not seen in the past couple of years. The World Gold Council is uniquely positioned in the gold market to get immediate feedback on market patterns. We are already seeing shortages for bars and coins in Dubai, while premiums in Mumbai are at $26/oz and $6 in Shanghai, indicating that buyers are willing to pay more than current spot prices for the metal. Clearly the desire to own gold, as an investment and for adornment, has made itself felt in the physical market. Gold operates on the basic economic fundamentals of demand and supply. Besides, gold as a store of value or hedge against inflation is a thing of the past. ï»¿Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Body Piercing Guide We are going to kick off this series of articles covering the basics, and of course, the basics include terminology. No this is not just plain boring terminology; however, it is important to understand the terminology to understand the other articles in this series that will rely heavily on the terminology that this article will cover. Please keep in mind before ever considering getting a piercing that you find a good reputable piercer who you feel completely comfortable with. Remember that eventually your life will rest in this persons hands. If they are careless with their practices, you could end up with either a major infection, or else Hepatitis if the studio does not properly maintain their equipment, and only use needles once. Never, ever use a studio that reuses needles, no matter how well they claim to sterilize the needles. Insist on only single use needles for any piercing that are done to your body. While we review some of the important terminology, please remember these are the technical terms for the process, and placements. Please also note, you should never determine for positive fact the position of any piercing you want without speaking over the final placement choice with your piercer. Individuals and their bodies can effect the proper placement of a successful piercing. Also, please note: the human body is not meant to be used as a pincushion as some people are attempting. Some piercing will migrate out of place, no matter how good and experienced the piercer is, and no matter how well you take care of the piercing. Some people experience this normal body reaction with piercing. We are going to start with the types of jewelry and work from there, this is something very important since the proper jewelry can determine whether a piercing is successful or whether is becomes so badly infected that it must be removed. Acrylic, this is a plastic material that is derived from acrylic acid, commonly known by the name Perspex. This is what many types of jewelry are made from, however no initial piercing should ever; use any type of acrylic jewelry, as it is not able to be cleaned properly for a new piercing to heal successfully. Alloy, this is a mixture of various metals, usually has different qualities from the metals it contains. Any form of gold other than pure gold would be classified as an alloy. Any gold that is 14 carat or higher makes an excellent choice for an initial piercing. Copper, a reddish colored material, often used as a component of gold alloys. This alone should not be used for a piercing at all, many people are unable to use plain copper, however used as an alloy with gold most people have no problems at all. Crystal, this is a highly transparent and brilliant type of glass used as a replacement for more expensive gemstones in jewelry. This is not under any circumstances recommended for any piercing that is not fully healed. Gold, this is a heavy bright yellow metal that is often used in jewelry. Pure or fine gold is very soft and weak, so for jewelry it is mixed with other metals such as silver, copper, nickel, and palladium. Another spin off of gold jewelry is gold plated, this is not recommended for initial piercing, however for healed piercing will do just fine at a much lower cost, however the piece will not last as long before breaking or becoming damaged compared to a solid gold piece. Karat, this is the measurement used to describe how much gold is in a piece of jewelry. For example 9 karat gold has nine parts gold to 15 parts of other metals. While 14 karat gold has 14 parts, gold to 10 parts other metals. Final example is 18 karat gold, which has 18 parts gold to six parts other metals. Nickel, this is silvery white metal that is used to strengthen and prevent corrosion. This alone is not typically used in jewelry; however, it is a component of surgical stainless steel, which is a very popular jewelry choice both for new and established piercing. Niobium, this is a white superconductive metal that is chemically inert and thus suitable for piercing. This is a rare metal to find jewelry in, and makes the jewelry a bit more expensive. PTFE, this is a plastic with a waxy texture made by polymerizing terafluoroethylene. It is non flammable, inert, and extremely smooth. This can be used in new or established piercing; typically, this is a lightweight material and makes it ideal for almost any piercing placement. Silver, a brilliant grey white metal. This is used extensively in jewelry both on its own, and mixed as an alloy with gold. This is also suitable for new and established piercing. Stainless Steel, stainless steels are alloys of iron with other metals, containing other elements such as sulphur, and carbon, sharing the common properties of not rusting and being able to be polished. Most contain nickel and in contact with the skin will release significant quantities of nickel. This will then cause an allergic response. Surgical Stainless Steel, the term surgical stainless steel, refers to stainless steel that releases very little nickel into the body; this reduces the amount of allergic responses. ASTM 316LBMF138 97 Grade Implantation Steel is the only acceptable form to use in new piercing and is designed to comply with the European Nickel Directive. Titanium, this is a very strong corrosion resistant white metal that is very lightweight. This is awesome for tongues, and other piercing where you do not want a large amount of weight. This is the primary material that I personally prefer for my tongue piercing and will rarely wear anything else. White Gold, An alloy of find gold, fine copper and either palladium or nickel. White gold made with nickel is cheaper, commoner, and will cause more problems with people allergic to nickel. Yellow Gold, this is the normal standard gold that most people are used to seeing. This is an alloy of fine gold, fine copper and silver. More silver is used then copper, making the color yellow instead of pink or a rose color. Now that we have established the types of material for jewelry, we will briefly go over the types of jewelry. Barbell, this is an item of jewelry consisting of a rod the bar, which penetrates the piercing and ends the bells, which holds the bar in the piercing. This is common and standard in tongue, navel, and eyebrow amongst many other piercing. Barbell Length, this distance between the internal aspects of the ends. In a curved barbell, it is the shortest distance between the balls at the ends. Captured Bead Ring, a ring made up of a bent rod clasping a dimpled bead that completes the circle. Special ring opening pliers are required to open up the ring and release the bead. Circular Barbell, A barbell bent into a circular shape, typically has a gap between the ends just less than a quarter of the circle described by the barbell. This type of jewelry is used in septum, nipple, Prince Albert and many other piercing. Curved Barbell, A barbell in which the barbell is curved, commonly used in eyebrow, nipple, and numerous genital piercing. Also called a bent barbell. Finally, a brief description of the different thread types for jewelry before we wrap up this installment of the body piercing series. External threading, threading on jewelry that is exposed on the outside of jewelry, external threading damages by cutting or scrapping cells from the inside of a piercing, this is particularly a problem in new and unhealed piercing. Most barbells are externally threaded. If the threads are on the barbell itself then it is externally threaded. Internal threading, threading on jewelry that is concealed, internal threading avoids damages when changing or inserting jewelry, if the threads are on the balls, and not the barbell then the jewelry is internal threaded. This is most common on large gauge jewelry. ï»¿Creating a Pair of Earrings I have been dabbling in the art of jewelry making for several years now and find that handmade earrings are not only super cute, but create a personalization for every outfit. I started out with the basics: Put a bead onto a headpin. Create beading link with the headpin using jewelry pliers. Attach beading link to earring hook with a jump ring. Very simple, yet elegant. This guide, however, is for a slightly more challenging pair of earrings. I call them Blue Swarovski Drops. Supplies: Good pair of jewelry making pliersThe first thing you will want to do is bead your beads onto your headpins. My pattern was seed bead, bicone, glass, bicone, glass, bicone, seed bead. Once youve got the headpin filled with beads, cut the headpin down to 1/4 inch and then create a loop with your pliers. When your headpin is done, attach the jump ring to the loop youve created and add the earring hook to the jump ring. Close tightly with pliers. A hint for a successful jump ring closure is to not open it to look like a c. Instead, hold the opening of the jump ring upwards and use your pliers to pull toward you and away from you. ï»¿Cee Lo Green Scores the NBCs The Voice Season 2 continued last night with its last segment of the blind auditions. The judges were intense and quick witted as they worked to convince talent auditioning to select them as their coach and, as usual, contestants brought a blend of nervousness and excitement as they took to the stage after hanging out with show host Carson Daly. The first contestant, Sara Golden, a folk singer from Houston told her story about being offered deals to sign with two different record labels. Both wanted her to develop a new look and she wasnt quite up for that. NBC opted not to show her face until she was well into her performance. Her short cropped hair and attire made it difficult to tell what sex this singer was. As soon as she began performing Lady Gagas You and I, there was no doubt this artist was female. She compelled Blake and Cee Lo who rotated their chairs to battle it out over her. In the end, Golden chose to join Cee Los team. Katrina Parker, a 34 year old administrative assistant at an insurance company did her thing next after explaining her singing career was on hold due to sickness from living in a mold infested home. She sees The Voice as an opportunity to re launch her career. She performed Joan Osbornes hit One of Us and managed to get Adam Levine to spin his chair around. The other judges opted out; so in a singular spin, Adam managed to score Parker. Next the 51 year old Geoff McBride took to the stage and performed Stevie Wonders Higher Ground. His soulful performance sparked the interest of both Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. The two judges fought over the performer who wore sunglasses due to an old kick boxing injury and Christina took this contestant. Pip, a 19 year old who told Carson Daly he had a background in musical theater, took the stage and rendered his version of House of the Rising Son. After putting his own stamp on the classic number, he compelled all four judges to turn around. Blake Shelton pleaded with him to select the team that has no guys, Christina worked on luring the artist in as well, but it was Adam Levine who won this talent for his team in the end. Contestant Erin Willet sat with her parents back stage waiting for her turn. Her story was a sad one as she described the enormous influence her father has had in her life. He had just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and she was grateful to have him at her side for her audition. She performed the Jackson 5s I Want You Back and, at Christinas prompting, Blake turned his chair around. The rest of the judges stayed put, and Willet opted to join Blake Sheltons team. Erin Martin, a 27 year old former model delighted the crowd next with her funky look alone. The tall beauty with a killer smile described her look as that of an Egyptian Warrior Princess. She took to the stage sporting a big hair up do, a sparkly headband, high heeled boots, fish net stockings, dazzling jewelry and a short skirt. Her unusual voice not only blew the audience away, but attracted the attention of Cee Lo and Blake as well. She sang Plain White Ts Hey There Delilah and her style stood out. ï»¿Beaded Jewelry Project This red, white, and blue beaded necklace is a great accent to any bright outfit. This jewelry piece can even be worn to celebrate America. Follow the directions below to make your own colorful, multi strand necklace. Materials Needed for this Beaded Jewelry Project 1. Beading monofilament or thread The first step in this beaded jewelry project is to determine how long you want your necklace to be. Then, cut the beading thread or filament to four times that length. Begin at one end by tying on one side of the necklace clasp. Use the craft glue to secure the knot completely. Run your beading needle through one red seed bead. Then, thread about five inches of the blue seed beads after it. Another red bead goes next and then one of the large blue and white round beads. The necklace pattern repeats from here. String fifteen blue seed beads, one red, and then another large accent bead. Do this two more times to incorporate all of the large blue and white round beads into the jewelry project. After the third large bead, put one red seed bead, five inches of the blue seed beads to match the other end, one more red bead, and then loop your thread through the other side of the necklace clasp. Use another dab of the craft glue to secure the knot on this side. This is one strand of your beaded multi strand necklace. Now, turn the bead jewelry project around and thread the next bunch of beads on your needle. You will have one red and then five inches of blue seed beads. This second strand should be just like the first strand. When you get to the large blue and white bead, stick the needle through this bead. On the other side of the large bead, string one red, fifteen blue, and one more red before your needle goes through the next accent bead. Complete the rest of this red, white, and blue necklace strand. Go back across the necklace, using the same patterns of beads, two more times. You will have a lovely multi strand necklace in bright, patriotic colors. Be sure to dab the clear drying craft glue on each of the knots at the end. After you hang up the phone and spend a few moments celebrating, you stop dead in your tracks. What should you wear? Does the job interview dress code still call for the traditional interview suit? Appropriate attire for an interview often does mean a jacket or blazer with matched slacks or skirt. However, there is some room for variation. In some circumstances, you can skip the suit altogether and still present yourself as an excellent candidate for the job. However, if you are unsure of what may be appropriate interview attire, it is wise to err on the side of caution. Interview Dress Tips for MenFor men, the safest bet is nearly always a suit with a white or light colored shirt and a coordinating solid color tie, although a tie with a subtle pattern is also fine. Your tie should be silk or a high quality synthetic fabric, not a knit tie. Dark blue or gray solids or pinstripes are the most common colors for an interview suit. Black suits can be very sharp but also harsh especially if you have fair skin. Brown suits are uncommon but if you have one that looks great, wear it. For all but the most liberal or artistic job interview settings, the wisest choice is to cover visible body art and remove any piercings, including earrings. Neatly groomed facial hair is OK but employers that are more conservative may frown upon it. The same disapproval applies to very long hair a neatly styled short hairstyle will put you ahead of the game. The saying put your best foot forward applies to your interview footwear. Wear dark color lace ups or dress loafers with coordinating dark dress socks that rise up to or above your calves. Make sure your shoes are polished and your heels are not worn. Do not overdo the cologne and leave heavy neck chains at home. A single chain beneath your shirt, along with a watch and class ring are fine. Interview Dress Tips for WomenTraditionally, a woman interview suit calls for a jacket and skirt, and for an interview in a very conservative firm, it is still the ideal choice. However, for most intervi ews, a pants suit is fine, and is a sensible choice if your interview takes place in the dead of winter. Color choices for women are much less limited than for men. Nonetheless, more subdued colors and patterns are appropriate choices for an interview suit. If you wear a dress, it should be conservatively tailored. Hemlines for skirts or dresses should be at or below the knee. If you opt for a suit, coordinate it with a tailored blouse in opaque fabric. Make sure your neckline is not too low and that no part of your ensemble is too tight. A polished makeup job, minimal jewelry and high quality fragrance are all fine, but use a light touch. If you have long hair, a severe, tightly pulled bun is not necessary, but save elaborate hairstyles for strictly social outings. Panty hose matched to your skin tone will lend polish to your interview ensemble. Finish your look with closed toe shoes with a modest heel. Interview Suit Not Required If your interview is with a company in the creative arena, if you are a blue collar worker or a teenager interviewing for a part time job, wearing a traditional interview suit may be overkill. However, you can almost never go wrong with a jacket or blazer and coordinating dress shirt with slacks or a skirt. This out of this world necklace is crafted from vintage German glass, lucite and Venetian seed beads then hand woven. Jennifer Lowe creativity shows off a fanciful side with this Genie necklace. She used a netting technique to craft a little glass bottle, it even has a stopper and the bottle could be filled with perfume, oils or Genie Glitter!

Fun Halloween Crafts

ï»¿28 Fun Halloween Crafts Guests at your holiday haunting will go batty over this quick and fun project. Have your kids make it as a gift for a spooktacular teacher!Step 2: Use paper punch to make a hole approximately 1/8 inch in from neck edge of bat. Punch hole in oval wood piece to match hole in bat. Paint oval using chisel tip marker. Let dry. Glue oval to center of bat, matching holes. Glue on wiggle eyes, and use silver marker to draw mouth and vampire teeth. Step 3: Cut 36 inches of yarn. String and tie pony beads onto yarn, spacing beads 11/2 to 21/2 inches apart. Tie yarn ends together at back. Fold necklace in half to find middle of front. Tie an overhand knot at center front of necklace. Step 4: Using embroidery needle and floss, thread floss through hole punched in bat body. Bring needle through knot at center front of necklace. Knot floss ends together, leaving enough room for bat to hang 11/2 inches below knot. Step 5: Determine bracelet size by measuring wrist then multiplying by 3. Cut yarn to determined length and add pony beads, knotting them in place as with necklace. Wrap around wrist and tie yarn ends using an overhand knot. Trim yarn ends.
